CSU Extension Program Records

Officially established by the Smith-Lever Act in 1914, the Colorado Cooperative Extension Service (renamed CSU Extension in 2007) has served as the agricultural and home management outreach arm of Colorado State University, a land-grant institution, by bringing the results of university research to Coloradans. Over its history, faculty and staff with expertise in agriculture, horticulture, range, forestry, water, health promotion, financial literacy, business management, community development, and 4-H youth development have offered instruction utilizing the latest information and research. This collection contains the county's carbon copies of annual reports of County Extension Agent, Louis G. Davis, and Home Demonstration Agent, Jeanne Warner, regarding Cooperative Extension work in Agriculture and Home Economics in Jefferson County, Colorado. Agent Davis' reports detail all activities and projects undertaken in the following areas: Rural Organization; Crops; Soils; Weed Control and Eradication; Horticulture; Pests: Forestry; Poultry; Dairying; Animal Husbandry; Veterinary Medicine; Agricultural Economics; and Editorial Service. Agent Warner's reports cover her activities in Nutrition; Clothing; Home Management and Home Furnishings; and Home Health and Sanitation. The reports include the agents' outlook and recommendations for the following year; program of work for the previous year; list of specialists visiting the office; and summaries of meetings. They are illustrated with copies of notices, booklets, photographs and the agents' newspaper columns.
